The African Development Bank (ADB),[www.afdb.org], is a development bank established in 1964 with
the intention of promoting economic and social development in Africa. In 2004,
the ADB unveiled its strategy on higher education, science and technology for the
continent of Africa. Seychelles is proud to be part of this initiative. On the 21st
November 2007 the African Development Bank (ADB) granted Seychelles USD 1.5 million
towards the establishment of the Seychelles University. This follows an exchange of
letters between President James Michel and the President of the ADB, Dr Donald
Kaberuka, early this year.
With this gesture, the ADB becomes a co-founder of the Seychelles University and an
important partner in the work of the Seychelles University Foundation.
