Strategic Partners

The African Development Bank (ADB),[www.afdb.org], is a development bank established in 1964 with the intention of promoting economic and social development in Africa. In 2004, the ADB unveiled its strategy on higher education, science and technology for the continent of Africa. Seychelles is proud to be part of this initiative. On the 21st November 2007 the African Development Bank (ADB) granted Seychelles USD 1.5 million towards the establishment of the Seychelles University. This follows an exchange of letters between President James Michel and the President of the ADB, Dr Donald Kaberuka, early this year.
With this gesture, the ADB becomes a co-founder of the Seychelles University and an important partner in the work of the Seychelles University Foundation.

The Commonwealth of Learning (COL),[www.col.org], is an intergovernmental organization created by Commonwealth Heads of Government to encourage the development and sharing of open learning/distance education knowledge, resources and technologies. COL is helping developing nations improve access to quality education and training. COL is supporting a study to evaluate the potential and synergies of developing tertiary education in Seychelles.

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO), [www.unesco.org], is a United Nations organisation whose main objective is to contribute towards peace and security by promoting collaboration between nations through engagement in education, science, culture and communications. In this spirit of collaboration, UNESCO has pledged its support to the Seychelles Qualifications Authority which is an important partner of the Seychelles University Foundation. Moreover, UNESCO is also supporting the Seychelles University Foundation by reviewing our University Act.
